5 Easy Ways To Be Effective On Social Media

Over the past year SME’s have continued to see the power of social media and how it can be an effective tool to grow your business networks and contacts. For most SME’s the problem is not knowing how to use the tools effectively or have the time to learn how to do it right.
It doesn’t matter what social media platform you are using, here are 5 quick and easy things to implement to improve your social media marketing strategy.

1. Focus On Providng Good Content:
Social Media is a content driven site, for the personal user the content is related around a persons life. For the business user content MUST be related to your number #1 topic and adding value to another person’s world. For example a health professioanl should be providing content about, health, wellness, fitness, eating well, living well. A financial professional should be talking about wealth creation, insurance, risk, markets, real estate, shares etc. The content you provide should show your expertise and provide an opportunity for people to see how good you are.

2. Engage With Others:
The purpose of social media was to engage with others, to share things and to bring people closer. Successful social media marketing plans understand the importance of relationship building and engaging with other people and other people’s networks. If you think you can just connect and never talk again then you are wrong. Constant engagement is a must if you expect that relationship to grow and be fruitful.

3. Create Win / Win Opportunities:
Social Media is a great place to meet other people who have your target audience but are not in competition with you. Look at how you can create win / win opportunities with others, share databases, introduce someone of value to your community and allow leverage. To many business owners do it the hard way and try to find 1 sale at a time, leverage and get in front of hundreds all at once through other people.

4. Integrate With Everything:
I’ve always believed watch what the big players with big budgets are doing and try to copy it on your smaller scale. So why are so many TV ads were they are paying thousands of dollars for 30 seconds focusing on join us on facebook, upload images to facebook, etc. They know the importance of building a community and allowing that community to spread the brand into their own persoanl networks. So how can you integrate social media to your other makreting campaigns? Is it part of your email signature, do you have website icons, do you allow people to join across all the major networks or just one? Social media integration is an easy way to increase your numbers and networks.

5. Ask To Be Shared:
The pwoer of social media is the baility to be shared into other people’s networks that you currently don’t know exist. This doesn’t happen without good content and something worth sharing. Users on social media are starting to understand the share concept, however it doesn’t hurt to ask every now and then if the user wouldn’t mind sharing you with others. More people, more networks, more exposure, more sales.
