Executive Chairman Matthew Johnson and CEO Caroline Hong met with a large Chinese delegation, the SINOPEC group, led by Mr Geng Limin, Director of the Supervision Bureau , Sinopec Group China, in Sydney on 10 May 2012. The NSW Trade and Investment office, Robert Blayney and his team, headed and honoured by the Deputy Premier, the Hon Andrew Stoner, also Minister for Trade and Investment and Minister for Regional Infrastructure and Services, welcomed the delegation who were here on a business exploratory study tour relating to investment in NSW in the petroleum sector at the NSW Parliament House

Gen-Y SMEAA – you are our future

Executive Chairman Matthew Johnson and CEO Caroline Hong met with the Hon Katrina Hodgkinson MP, NSW Minister for Small Business and Minister for Primary Industries at Parliament House on 2 May 2012.

They discussed small business and SME issues. It was such a pleasant meeting with a very engaging Minister about our association, small business and SMEs, China, trade & investment, dissemination of government information, provision of services to businesses, My Business Awards, Small Business Month and collaboration with government.

CEO Caroline Hong was also invited as a guest of the NSW Deputy Premier, the Hon Andrew Stoner, MP, also Minister for Trade and Investment and Minister for Regional Infrastructure and Services, at the NSW Parliament House Question Time, and acknowledged by the Speaker The Honourable Shelley Hancock MP. The issues debated by the Coalition and the Opposition were interesting and vigorous, touching on transport, health, education and other issues.

CEO Caroline Hong and Executive Chairman Matt Johnson met with the Hon. Joe Hockey, Shadow Treasurer, on 30 April in North Sydney.

It was a positive meeting which allowed us to raise the awareness of small and medium enterprise businesses, making up 99.7% of total businesses in Australia, and why our association exists. Joe is very supportive of small and medium enterprises and understands the importance of SMEs for the future prosperity of Australia. Thank you Joe and for giving us your time and attention for SMEs.
