Our Vision

The SME Association of Australia was officially launched on 6 & 7 October 2011, with Foundation Members signing up and joining us from day one. We are new and growing everyday with interest from small, medium and large business, government and NFP organisations. We value our Foundation members and Corporate Member Partners, and will work with them to grow the association, and to achieve our mission and vision.

The SME Association of Australia, an association of SMALL and MEDIUM ENTERPRISES is the peak body and leading voice for the most important economic driver for the prosperity of Australia, our Nation. It recognises that there are about 2 million small businesses in Australia and they comprise more than 95 % of all businesses in Australia.

Our Mission is “To equip SMEs for success and economic growth”

The SME Association of Australia will provide membership services and form strategic alliances and affiliations with businesses, organisations, associations, schools, higher education bodies and government to ensure that SMEs are equipped with what they need to connect, grow and prosper in their businesses via a business friendly one stop platform through our association.

WELCOME MESSAGE FROM THE CEO

The SME Association of Australia is an association of SMALL and MEDIUM ENTERPRISES, the peak body and leading voice for the most important economic driver for the prosperity of Australia, our Nation.

There are nearly 2 million small businesses in Australia and they comprise of 95% of all businesses in this country. We connect SMEs with each other and with big businesses locally and internationally, help them grow, succeed and prosper, ultimately benefiting the nation, creating sustainability, jobs and a prosperous healthy nation.

Membership is open to individuals, sole traders, small and medium sized enterprises, corporate partners and supporters, government bodies, associations, NFP organisations, suppliers of services to small and medium enterprises, businesses and industries. We also open doors and membership, with the future business people of this nation in mind, being inclusive of students from High Schools, Education organisations and Universities. This will support and facilitate entrepreneurship and successful businesses for the future of Australia.

The aging population of Australia also means that, as a nation, we all need to create a business friendly platform to capture the knowledge and useful life of seniors who still wish to remain active and enjoy the benefits and dignity of work via businesses at this particular phase in their lives. This applies similarly to the increasing numbers of women who want to be supported in business as they are often faced with challenges of responsibilities for their homes, families and as carers for their elders.

SME Association of Australia is here for small and medium sized enterprises, industries and businesses to connect, grow and prosper. As this is our Foundation Year, we hope many of you will support our growth and journey for our long term vision for our Nation, “Prosperity for Australia through Successful SMEs”.
